Can you put lumineers over old white fillings on two front teeth ?

Q. Dear Doctor! Hello! I have a long lasting problem with my up front teeth. I changed the filling on them already 4 times, cause its always changing its colour. Can you, please, tell me if i can put lumeneer right on the filling or all the filling has to be removed? Every time i was changing the filling, teeth structure was removed as well, so, without filling i have a big space now. Thank you very much. S

A. Dear S
White or tooth coloured fillings are great as they preserve your own tooth however as you have discovered they can be prone to staining if they are leaking, something that becomes more apparent at the front of your mouth. Porcelain veneers do not stain or change colour and depending on the position of your teeth may not need a lot of tooth preparation, lumineers or traditional porcelain veneers could be the best choice of restoration for you but it is difficult to assess without seeing you. I personally think if you decided to have veneers it would be better to remove the fillings first to ensure the remaining tooth is healthy.
I hope this helps
