Can you provide me with advice on applying veneers to a 60 year old lady?
Q.
I have a 60 year old lady coming to surgery tomorrow wanting veneers UL1 and UR1 (actually – I may have triggered her off!).. anyways.. I would have never ever ever suggested veneers except for the MSc.. she has hypoplastic enamel which is pitted and stained and a prominent crack running longitudinally across the UL1 which is heavily stained. She says her teeth have always looked blackish!
problems:
1. she has a high scalloped gingiva UR1 and a shallow scallop UL1 – Need to do gingival contouring (would I need to trim bone?) -when do i take impressions? at the same appointment as contouring or after 1 week?
2. she has a high smile line 🙁
3. would whitening help? (pitted enamel).. and if i have to do veneers.. should i first be starting with whitening???

I can’t really answer specifics such as this without seeing the patient first. It sounds like it might be best to refer the patient to a more experineced cosmetic dentist and maybe look around for a course to further your knowledge on these cases
