Are the veneers secure enough once they are fitted?

Q. Hi Dr Caplan, I hope this doesnt seem like a daft question but Im really worried and would appreciate your opinion. Basically I have had veneers fitted recently and I’m not very happy with the outcome aesthtically, as they are quite uneven and dont sit straight as in the temps. Besides this however, the main problem is that they dont feel very secure, particularly the very front ones. I am aware of a clicking sensation after ive cleaned my teeth or had something to eat, which feels like the veneers are slightly moving in and out of place. It is a very strange sensation and every time it happens I am very anxious in case they fall out! I have been back to the dentist and he has checked them and said everything is fine.. however I go on holiday soon for 2 weeks and Im terrified of any of these veneers falling out when Im out of the country. Is there any way to make them feel more secure or is it a case of just living with it? Many thanks for your time

A. This does not sound like a major problem.  Veneers generally fit onto the front of the teeth and between the teeth to a lesser or greater extent. Where the teeth touch eachother may now be slightly different and where they touch can cause a slight clicking as they rub past eachother. All teeh can naturally move about .2 of a mm when your teeth meet.   This is prbably the cause of your click-  a none bonded veneer simply falls off without a click!  nowadays this is a rare event with the bonding techniques available.
