Patients Left in the Lurch after Northamptonshire Dental Surgery Closes Suddenly

Around 2,000 patients have been left in the lurch after a dental surgery in Kettering, Northamptonshire closed suddenly.

Headlands Dental Care closed without warning on April 11th, but most patients only found out after official contact from NHS Northamptonshire. Some also tried to ring the surgery, only to find a recorded message saying that the surgery was closed and would no longer be providing NHS dental services.

It is believed that the surgery was forced to close after failing to register with the Care Quality Commission, the government body, which is responsible for ensuring that health providers adhere to guidelines and offer first class standards of care.

A spokesman for NHS Northamptonshire confirmed that the practice had closed as a result of not registering with the Care Quality Commission. He then went on to say that the surgery did not register and as this is a legal obligation, there was no choice but for the NHS trust to stop the current contract.

NHS Northamptonshire is currently working to provide patients previously registered with Headlands Dental Care with a new NHS dentist and the trust has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Janet Marchand, a patient at the practice, said that she was worried by the news of the closure and is looking forward to receiving some more information from NHS Northamptonshire.
