Dentists in the Middle East Join Forces to Raise Awareness of Oral Health Problems in Diabetic Patients

Dentists in the Middle East are teaming up to try and raise awareness of the increased risk of oral health problems for patients with diabetes and special needs.

According to the Middle East Advisory Board, awareness of the link between diabetes and oral health diseases is low and as a result, many patients with diabetes suffer from oral health problems, such as gum disease and decay.

The board also identified a lack of oral health support for patients with special needs and specialists called for better standards of personalised, tailored care for patients with complex dental needs.

Dentists met to discuss oral health issues in the region at the third Middle East Advisory Board meeting, which was held in Dubai earlier in the year. The meeting was organised by Johnson & Johnson Middle East.

Dentists highlighted problems they face on a daily basis in their practice and discussed initiatives and ideas to try and raise awareness of the importance of good oral health and improve standards of oral health in the region.
