Natural Remedies for Gum Disease

Sample News Big

The most effective way to prevent gum disease is to adopt a good daily oral hygiene routine. However, there are other ways to reduce your risk of developing gum disease, which involve natural remedies.

Gum disease is one of the most common preventable illnesses in the world, with figures showing that around two thirds of people in the USA will suffer from gum disease at some point in their lives. Oral hygiene is extremely important and a good routine should include brushing the teeth twice a day for at least two minutes each time, using mouthwash and dental floss to target areas that are hard to reach.

In addition to oral hygiene, there are natural remedies that can be used to keep gum disease at bay, which include eating foods that are rich in vitamin C, gargling with salt water and using aloe. Salt water helps to kill bacteria and cleanse the gums. Vitamin C is essential for a healthy immune system, which helps fight off illnesses and infections. Foods that are rich in vitamin C include fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits.

Aloe can be used in its natural form but it does not taste very nice so it may be advisable to use mouthwash that contains aloe instead. Aloe accelerates the healing process.
