A dental practice in West Yorkshire has set up an awareness campaign to tackle homelessness and raise funds to end rough sleeping in the area.

Town Hall Dental, based in Brighouse near Halifax, has set up to this end a charitable arm known as the Town Hall Foundation. The aim of this charity is to provide dental care to those who need it the most. To this end, Town Hall Dental has recently collaborated with Focus4Hope, a local homeless charity, in order to set up a mobile dental clinic to help provide dental care to the homeless of Leeds.

The latest campaign is focused on shining a spotlight on the increase in homelessness in West Yorkshire, as figures released show that rough sleeping has increased year on year for the past seven years.

Rachel Dilley, practice manager and head of the Town Hall Foundation, commented that the main desire for homeless people having worked so closely with them, they just want to get back on their feet and get back to work, but basic dignity is often overlooked. Clothes and food are donated, but hygiene products, the ability to take care of their teeth and body are fundamental things to make someone feel part of society again, get them housed and back into work.
