The University of Bolton’s new Centre for Dental Sciences has been given a glowing report by Ofsted.

The new facility, which is the first of its kind in Europe, cost £17 million and has recently opened on Queens Campus. The centre provides first-class training facilities and resources for students and apprentices. The centre was opened in association with Genix Healthcare.

In the Ofsted report, inspector Suzanne Wainwright said that the lecturers foster an “enjoyable learning environment” and students are able to access the latest dental technology and “high-quality resources.” The courses and programmes support students in their career goals and staff were found to offer encouragement and build confidence.

The report also stated that the university, in partnership with Genix Healthcare, has managed to develop a dental technology apprenticeship scheme, which responded to gaps in the local job market and a gap in skills in this specific industry.

Ms Wainwright went on to commend the university for offering apprentices the chance to train and develop their skills in a variety of settings and training environments.
