Organisers of the Mission of Mercy clinic, which will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, are hoping to treat around 2,500 people over the course of the weekend.

The clinic, which will run from the Charlotte Convention Center, will be the state’s largest free dental clinic, with 100 dental chairs in place and hundreds of volunteer dental professionals on-site. The clinic will run for three days straight and the team of volunteers will try and see as many people as possible.

The doors to the clinic will open at midnight on Friday 5th September and patients can register beforehand. A range of routine treatments will be provided, including cleaning treatments, tooth extractions and fillings. Routine check-ups will also be offered and there will be a limited number of partial dentures available.

Endodontist Evan Miller, who is also co-chair of the clinic, said that the clinic is a real team effort, with volunteers from the local area flocking to help people in need. Dentists, dental nurses and hygienists will be joined by general volunteers who will help the clinic to run smoothly for the 3-day event.

The clinic will be one of the largest free dental events in the country and everyone is looking forward to the coming days, when thousands of patients will have access to much-needed dental care.

The Mission of Mercy organises free dental clinics all over the USA with the aim of allowing people who can’t afford to see a regular dentist to get the treatment they need.
