Bupa Acquires Barbican Dental Care

Bupa has taken a major step forward in the quest to become a leading player in the UK dental market following the acquisition of Barbican Dental Care.

Barbican Dental Care is a corporate dental provider, which currently manages 24 surgeries from nine different locations in London. The firm offer corporate dental plans and treatment for a host of firms based in the City, Canary Wharf and the West End and news of the takeover echoes aims expressed by Bupa executives in 2012. Bupa chiefs expressed an interest in the dental industry and set sights on becoming one of the UK’s major providers by 2015.

Founder of Barbican Dental Care, Neil Sikka, said that the deal is very exciting and added that he was excited to be working with Bupa and expanding the business in the coming months.

Gordon Hamilton, from Cavendish Corporate Finance, was involved in the acquisition and said that Neil had done a very good job in establishing an excellent service, which provides corporations with high levels of care and state of the art facilities and treatments.

Bupa has also revealed an ongoing interest in investing in supermarket clinics across the UK.
