A dental team from Chippenham raised more than £1,000 for charity last week; the team at London Road Dental Practice hosted a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.

Members of staff at the practice donned their aprons to bake cakes and doled out endless cups of tea and coffee to visitors to raise money for the charity, which helps thousands of people affected by cancer every year in the UK.

In total, the team raised £1, 016 and visitors were treated to a cup of tea and a cake, as well as a host of stalls with prizes and products donated by local businesses, including Tiddlywink Treats, which was selling pots of jam.

Nearby, children at Langley Fitzurse Primary School were also cooking up a storm to support the charity. Children, parents and staff used the school’s brand new kitchen to create some delicious treats, which were then put on sale to raise cash for Macmillan. In total, the school raised £516.

Head teacher, Becky Harris, said that the new kitchen is a real asset to the school and it was great for parents, staff and children to use it to make money for such a good cause.

Coffee mornings were held all over the UK last Friday in support of Macmillan, one of the largest cancer charities, with millions of pounds raised to put towards research and support for cancer patients and their families.
