I am a 32 year old ive have had eight tooth fillings

Thursday, November 6th, 2008
Q.
Hello Dr Komal Suri, I am a 32 year old, have had eight tooth fillings done with silver amalgum about twelve years ago. I have not been to a dentist since, Recently I have noticed three dark spots on the teeth inside my mouth which also cause some uncomfortable pain. What could be the cause of these symptoms? Is it advisible to have the old silver amalgum fillings replaced with white ones? as I belive silver amalgum is toxic heavy metal which can promote disease like cancer. Thanking you in anticipation Kind regards

smashing one of my front teeth

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
Q.
I had an accident about 6 years ago which resulted in me smashing one of my front teeth. After some root work i had a crown fitted but it was a really bad fit and very noticable. I had to wait until a few weeks ago to get it redone as i could not afford it. I have now got my temporay crown in and goingback next week to get the new porcelin crown fixed. As i also have a gap i am getting a porcelin veneer in my other front tooth to close the gap. It is costing me over £2000. My issue is that the main reason i wanted to get it sorted is the black line on the top of my tooth. My dentist originally told me that with the porcelin crown and a white post this would be illiminated but when i went in to get my old crown removed and the temporay fitted he said that my old tooth is very black and so i can not get rid of the black line. This is very gutting for me as i still feel it looks really bad. I feel really annoyed that i am paying all this money but am still going to come away with the unsightly black gum! Is there anything that i can do? Shoudl i contact my dentist to discuss before my finla appointment?

white fillings on the NHS

Monday, September 29th, 2008
Q.
Hello, could you please tell me if i am entitled to a white filling on the fourth tooth from the front, I went to the NHS dentist last week for a small filling as there was a small patch of decay on the front of the fourth tooth along, I came out with a great big metal filling shining out at me, I was horrified. The following day it fell out. I have to go back tomorrow for a replacement but I am hoping as this is a very visable area i can request a white one. Many thanks.

should i have a crown or a white filling

Monday, August 18th, 2008
Q.
I have been having treatment for a root cancal on two teeth. My dentist believes that white fillings will be best for these teeth is this the cas as I am aware that crowns may be best. Also a fracture tooth needs repaired. She believes that white filling will be best. Is this also the case? Due to my previous illness of anorexia and bulima for over ten years this has erroded my teeth and has left them in bad shape at the back. Is there anyway I can build these teeth back up again? I am also aware that people can become models for students in college. I would be happy to do this if I was to recieve good dental treatment. Thankyou for your help.

My teeth are crowded and different heights would contouring work

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
My bottom 4 front teeth are slightly over crowded, which makes them slightly different heights, i was wondering if cosmetic contouring could file down the tops of them to make them look straight? would this work and how much would it cost to do?

I have stained teeth and fillings Im from north Scotland

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I am a 32 year old woman and around 5 years ago, on advice from my dentist, I had white fillings bonded to my two front teeth. This was to cover up the pitted appearance of the teeth caused by acid erosion (due to drinking too many fruit juices and brushing teeth directly after every meal.) I have since had the fillings removed as they started to discolour and looked darker than the rest of my teeth, which are fairly white. However, one of my front teeth is still stained with a yellow patch. A new dentist has told me that it looks like the composite has become embedded into the natural tooth which is now quite smooth from rubbing down. I am now worried about having further treatment to remove the stains in case I lose a lot more of my tooth through the filing down. However, the stains bother me every day. It is very difficult to find anyone locally (I live in the north of Scotland), who seems to have much experience in this area. Can you advise on what the best option for me might be, and if possible recommend any dentists in the Inverness/Scotland area who may be able to help. I am very nervous about making a mistake with my teeth again. Hope you can help.
