As A 60 Year Old, Is Gum Recession Something I Must Live With?

Thursday, May 16th, 2013
Q.

Hi
I have had recently some gum problems
I am coming up to 60 years old next birthday and although i do not have any problems with my teeth i do have some gum shrinking at the bottom front part of my mouth,
is this a common problem or is there something i could have done as although it does not cause me any pain it is quite a uncomfortable feeling in my mouth?

I have had cleaning work done on my teeth but no gum work done as yet. I have read a little about gum recession and shrinking but obviously directly asking an expert like yourself would prove more beneficial.

Can you recommend a denture specialist in Utah, Ogden?

Monday, April 11th, 2011
Q.

I am disapointed in my dentures, they are not my first set. I had what I thought was a specialist, but I went from porcelin to plastic and now have 2 chipped teath, both in the front one top and one bottom, everything sticks to them, and the color is awful, to much yellow and green….always had white teeth before, I hate these teeth, but they fit well. Better than others. Who do I need to see in Ogden, Utah 84414?

Is it too late for alterations to be made to my porcelain veneer?

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Mark Hughes,

I have recently put a porcelain crown on my front upper tooth. Once anaesthesia stopped acting I noticed discomfort as feel it all the time and cannot chew properly as it feels like there is not enough room for my lower tooth. My friends say I will get used to it but I tend to think it is too big for me. Can the alterations be made or it is too late now?
Please help.
Thank you.

Can you advise me what to do with my issues with dental bridges being improperly fitted?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
Q.

Why would a proffesional dentist fit bridges to 3 main teeth to hold the bridges knowing that these teeth were in poor condition and would eventually rot causing the bridges to slacken and fall out…..plus 1 bridge wasnt fitted right leaving huge gap..was told they would last 10 years also i am still paying for all the work done but sadly all the bridges need to be removed…..After getting my 2 front teeth fitted in for the 2nd time in December 07…I saw a dentist here in Scotland the following March his oppinion was that the teeth were wrongly fitted and after xrays so many problems were found…I was sent to a private independant dentist and had my mouth full checked so much was found and was told that all bridges have to be removed…So please tell me why????….I cannot eat right hav’nt for a few years now….After contacting the dentist who did the work offered me to come back and she would remove them and make me false dentures at no cost…now that says a lot!….I had the work done in Salford by a Dr X..I cannot travel there been ill have Ruhmatoid Arthritis prevents me barely moving…Please advise me on this matter…My teeth are in very poor contition..I have been mucked about with dentists for many years now….Is money all that matters to them what about what it does to the patient….Believe me it has ruined my life….I await your reply….thankyou!..

The base of my dentures is too thick, what can I do?

Thursday, February 24th, 2011
Q.

3 weeks ago I had all my remaining teeth removed and given immediate dentures. After taking into account and understanding what the dentist has told me about them, I am trouble with the dentures. Firstly the thickness of the base of the denturers are too thick, and when I have both sets in I feel like I have golf balls in my mouth, I cannot speak properly and certainly cannot eat with them, they also look too false. I understand that it takes time to get used to wearing dentures, and I put them in every morning, and try to keep them in as long as i can, in the case of getting used to wearing them, but despite them been adjusted a couple of times the problem still exists. I have spoke to the dentist that did the treatment and he told me there is no way they can be made thinner. I am currently unemployed and on the NHS, please please can you help me
