I’m wearing braces but am not happy with teeth size, should I get veneers?

Monday, April 4th, 2011
Q.

Hello there, I am wondering what you think I should do.. I am 16 years old and have braces. My teeth are pretty straight and am getting them off soon. Its just I am really unhappy with the size of my teeth alot of people have said that my dentist will add at the bottom to make them look longer but I feel its the top of the teeth it needs to be added to. My gums are lower down than any normal person and before I had braces my mouth wouldn’t close at ease it would be me making my lips close because I have a high lip. As my lips were not closed my top lip just sat on my gum causing it to make an indent in my gum, but when laughing people can see it and I think its horrible! Also when I was 5 or 6 my teeth got hit with a car door which cause my to front teeth to chip quite badly the right one wasn’t so bad and is fixed with a cap? but the left one was split right across the half way mark and couldn’t be fixed with a cap so my dentist gave me a crown. I have done some research online and came across gum shrinking and porcelain veneers which I think would be a lot nicer than the teeth I have now, could you give me advice on what you think I should do? Thanks, Michelle

Q.

I don’t consider myself to have bad teeth, but they are small and have gaps. If I wanted to have them cosmetically done, which would be the best option?

Two different dentists have advised two different methods of tooth correction, how do I know which one to pick?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

My Husband has fairly small stumpy teeth which have a space between each tooth. They are also discoloured. To correct this 2 dentists within the same practice advised of different approaches to rectifying this both pricey. My questions are: How do you judge best advice if you are advised of 2 different methods of correction? Also how do you know a dentists true capabilities especially when we hear of dentists who were fakes?

I have been recommended Lumineers for my small teeth but can they make the Lumineers bigger than my teeth?

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010
Q.
my teeth are small and I have small gaps, my local dentist said lumineers would be great but my question is can they make them bigger than my teeth because the issue is the size. My teeth are in good condition other than that. They said 8 on top and I just wondered why not the bottom..cost approx. $8,500,

I am considering a smile makeover but my main aim is to make my teeth look bigger. Can you recommend treatment?

Monday, October 25th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr, I’m considering a ‘smile makeover’. My problem is that my teeth are quite small. There are no gaps or noticeable deficiencies (structure etc is fine) but very small dents and prominent fangs. Is there a way of making the teeth look bigger and would it be better to get full lumineers or a smile makover which included bonding, whitening and reshaping? Many thanks.,

My teeth were removed to close gaps. Is having six front teeth showing normal?

Friday, October 1st, 2010
Q.
I have really small teeth, I have gaps in between my 4 front teeth. I had them pulled because my dentist told me that , that was the only way he could close the gap. So instead of 4 teeth in the front I have 6. Is that normal?,
