What is the Best Treatment for Dental Fluorosis on the Teeth?

Thursday, September 11th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes. I have dental fluorosis on both of my two front teeth. They are noticeably stained with large circular white marks, one on each of the two teeth. I feel that this affects the overall appearance of my teeth. I am 19 years old and I would really like to fix this problem. Would you recommend something along the line of veneers or Lumineers, or a treatment that is something totally different to veneers? I do not have a problem with the rest of my teeth, it is just the appearance of the front two that I would like to fix. I would appreciate any help you can give.
Thank you.

Skiing accident caused damage to teeth. what would you recommend in terms of Lumineers/Veneers?

Q.

Dear Dr Hughes

I have just come back from Chamonix where I had a skiing accident involving trauma to my face, which included a lacerated lip and a broken front tooth. I work as a clinical pharmacist at The London Clinic on 20 Devonshire Place and I was wondering what you would recommend in terms of Lumineers/Veneers. I am extremely conscious about discolouration of the tooth. At present I have a composite in place but acknowledge this is a temporary measure for 6 months if not 3 months according to the NHS dentist as the root may die, but only time will tell. The dentist said the best thing to get was a lumineer – is this true? If i get one lumineer on the broken tooth does this mean I will need my whole upper set of teeth done also. I dont want to have to go through ridiculous expense but I am so paranoid now, I wont smile or open my mouth too much for fear of anyone seeing my teeth. I used to love my teeth after 2 and half long painful years of orthodontal treatment. Please could you advise me on what the best options are for me and the time frame from which I should proceed with getting a permanent tooth. I want to be confident in at least my smile. Its very important in the day job to converse with patients and I do not want the first thing they notice to be a bad tooth.

Kind Regards

I want to get a beautiful, white smile but I worry about the cost. Can you give me a quote?

Q.

To be able to get my upper and the lower teeth done for Lumineer treatment, how much would the total cost be, I have quite a few crooked teeth, I have one crown at the back. All my life I hated my teeth and i have always wanted beautuful white straight teeth like the celebrities…friends dont think my teeth are that bad but I don’t believe them abd more than ever I’m very determined to get them done and at the same time I am worrued about the cost too? Which is why I’d very much appreciate a quote from you or perhaps you can recommend someone more local to me. would you be able to recommend a good dentist to carry out the proceedure in North London please? Thank you for your time.

My teeth are not straight or white and I don’t want braces, what can I do?

Q.

Hello Dr. Rob Tennet, i have 2 problems with my teeth 🙂

Number 1: they are yellow… i had tried whitening tooth paste for a long time(over 1 year) and not much changed.

Number 2:they are… not straight :(.

I would like to know what costs are involved in straightening and whitening. I also want to mention that i would not like braces…

I would like to have them at least straight in maximum 3 months, if that is possible.
Forgot to mention that I am 18 years old.

What is the best option for whitening my discoloured, sensitive teeth?

Monday, June 6th, 2011
Q.

Dear Doctor,

I have discolored teeth and would like to have this corrected. I have already tried the more widely available teeth whitening strips but my teeth became very sensitive soon after so I had to stop using them. I also developed a very thin, white vertical line down one of my front teeth and thought that the enamel had been damaged by the strips.

I feel from this experience that a professional laser whitening system would not suit me. I am reluctant to get veneers because I feel it is too invasive to natural teeth.

I have heard of cosmetic bonding and was wondering if this was an option to whiten teeth. Some sources say that bonding can only be used to correct smaller stains, but some suggest that it can be used to whiten the entire tooth.

Please could you tell me if cosmetic bonding is suitable for tooth whitening, Thank You.

What is the best treatment for my chipped tooth, veneers or lumineers?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi I have a front upper tooth chipped (a nip underneath when I was hit with a stick many years ago- only mentioning this in case you think I don’t look after my teeth) I have had it repaired with something that was bonded onto it although it still shows a hair crack line where the join is barely visible unless seen close up. Would it be better to have a veneer or a crown as regards longetivity and if so how much will it cost? Also out of interest are there any technological advances better than lumineer or other long term solutions I heard a while back in the papers that a technique was being innovated whereby a whole tooth could be re-grown somehow. Many Thanks!
