I’ve Read That In America They Have Dentistry Schools That Do Free Implants, Is It The Same In The UK?

Q.

Hi Dr Andrew, I’m only 32 years old and I have had no teeth (full mouth) for nearly 9 years now and it’s affecting my children, as they are currently being teased at school. I have had numerous sets of dentures but my mouth/gums keep on getting infected. Do you know of any dentistry schools that do the free implants as I’ve been looking at the prices and with me being a single mother on benefits I can’t really afford the prices and it’s really affecting my confidence as I’m looking a lot older than my age and I’ve read that in America they do have dentistry schools that do offer free implants, Is it the same in the UK?

What Is The Cost Of Having An Implant?

Friday, January 18th, 2013
Q.

Hi, after having root canal in my eye tooth, a year later I got an infection in the guu, after numerous anti-biotics my dentist referred me to the hospital to have the tooth removed and a false one on a plate put in. I was very upset as I did not want to have a plate. On visiting the hospital they said they could try and save the tooth by splitting the gum open to rid the infection. I had this procedure last August. Unfortunately the infection is back as my gum is turning black around the tooth again, with discomfort and a nasty taste. I was wondering if you could advise me of the cost of having the tooth removed replaced by a screw in one. Regards

Are braces safe for me to have?

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi Doc,

I am in the process of having braces. My lower left premolar has been removed. Today my upper left pre-molar has been removed. However while removing this, my tooth got broke and a small piece has been left in the root itself. My doctor said it is not a problem. He also said if i have to get it removed I will have to go through a minor surgery. So I want to know whether ignoring that can I go ahead with my braces. Will I be able to go for braces keeping that there in the first place. If i have to undergo surgery what are the risks involved? Is it a common problem or a rare risky occurrence?

Thank you for your time and support.

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012
Q.

Hello I was wondering if you could give me some advice . I saw a dentist today who told me I have to all my teeth removed and my only option is to have denture as my gums are damaged and infected. I really don’t like that idea and was wondering if I have any other options? I haven’t been to a dentist for many years and my teeth are bad to the point were most are either broken gone or wobbily. I was hoping to have more perminent teeth can you help?
