Hello Dr Hughes. When I was a child I was involved in an accident and got run over by a lorry as I hit the ground I landed on my chin braking my jaw both sides and cracking a lot of my teeth. As I was only young and it was hair-line fractures through my teeth I was told there was nothing they could do. But now as an adult and after losing a few teeth all the cracks are opening and it’s only going to get worse. I was a heavy smoker and coffee drinker but I have given them up. Please could you offer some advice as to how I go about sorting them out.

I Have A Hairline Crack In My Cap. What Is The Difference Between An NHS Crown And A Private One?

Hello Mark. I hope you can help me. I have a question regarding crowns. I have a cap on my front upper tooth which was fitted 40 years ago. A hairline crack appeared six months ago and now a small bit fell off from behind. My present one is from the NHS. Do I have another NHS one fitted or private one? What is the difference in materials? Will the colour match? My dentist said they
don’t make the type I have any more. What type of material is an NHS crown made of compared to one made privately? Thank you for your time.
