My Dentist Recommends Braces For Me But I’m Unsure. What Other Treatment Should I Consider?

Friday, November 29th, 2013
Q.

In the upper front of my mouth, I have a very bad overbite with a very large gap in the middle. My gap looks like I have a tooth missing but I don’t it is just a large gap. The two teeth on both sides of the gap are the overbite. Will I be able to get a partial, I can not afford implants, What do you recommend? I am a female middle age and I am not comfortable smiling. Is it too late to make the repairs needed. I can not afford dental implants. I know I will have to have the two front teeth removed. Is it normal to have a gap this large? My dentist recommends braces, I do not want to go that route, one of my front teeth is loose and I don’t think braces is the answer.

I’ve 9 Missing Teeth As They Didn’t Come Through After My Baby Teeth. What Treatment Should I Get And How Much Would It Cost?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I’m 27 years old and hate my teeth. I’ve always had 9 teeth missing, they just never came through after my baby teeth fell out. I also have one baby tooth remaining.

I’m wondering what work would need to be done to correct my teeth? The top ones are worse than the bottom ones. It’s not like I have massive gaps between my teeth, just that they do not look aligned properly, like other peoples. Some of my teeth are different lengths or appear at different angles too.

I’m also wondering a rough cost and how long do they last for? Is it painful and would I need to get them re-done at a later date?

I Am Getting An Implant After Removing A Front Tooth. What Are My Options Regarding Straight Teeth?

Thursday, September 26th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, I have a front tooth which I am getting removed and I think I will also be getting an implant. I will also be getting a permanent tooth done, so that I don’t have to walk around with a flipper tooth all my life. I already have quite natural spacing in my front teeth. Which I don’t like and the dentist has now told me that there is nothing I can really do about that. My question is, what can I do to the other tooth to help take up some of that space so that my gap wouldn’t be as big or leave me with no gap at all. (I do not want to remove another tooth). Thanks, I really hope you can help me out.

I Have Confidence Issues After Getting Bullied For The Gap Between My Front Teeth.

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Dr Patel. I currently have this gap between my two front teeth and it’s really getting me down as I got bullied a lot in school when I was younger for it and it’s just really knocked my confidence. I have been to my dentist and mentioned it a lot of times and she has just changed the subject which isn’t helpful. It’s not very big at all, but I really want something done about it sooner rather than later as a want to go on to a modelling career, please help me, any advise would be much appreciated as this problem has gone on too long for me. Thank you very much, it would be great to hear from you and obtain some advice.

I’d Like To Close The Gaps In My Teeth, Would Veneers Work Well For Me?

Monday, September 23rd, 2013
Q.

Good Morning Dr Moore,

I have a question regarding the gap I have on the top arcade between the first and the second incisive on the right. The gap is 2,5mm wide maximum and I believe it is due to the fall of the second incisive milk tooth at the age of 25, I’m now 39 years old and the gap has stayed constant in all these years without moving toward the first incisive.
I would like now to finally fix it and close or cover the gap. What options are there for me? Do you know if veneers be a viable option?
Many thanks, I really hope you can help me with this and offer your advice.

Please Help Dr, I Have Gaps In My Teeth And I’m Afraid To Smile, What Can I Do?

Thursday, September 19th, 2013
Q.

Please Dr Patel, I am 16 years old and I had one of my incisors removed at the age of 12 because I had a tooth which was not growing under the gum but above it. Up until now that tooth has not grown and I only have two incisors on my upper jaw. One out of the two, which I mentioned earlier and the other one removed and has refused to grow. I also have gaps in between my teeth. Please doctor I really need your help with this, it’s really been hard for me to smile in the past four years because I don’t want people to get disgusted as that is how disgusting I feel my dentition currently is. Thank you, I hope you can provide me with any information or advice.

Hi, I Have Very Small Teeth Which Means I Have Gaps Everywhere. I Want To Know Which Treatment Options Are Available To Me?

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Hello Doctor Moore. My problem is that I have very small adult teeth which means that I have gaps everywhere and my two front teeth seem huge in comparison to the rest. My two front teeth start higher up in the gum and they go past my other teeth. My teeth beside the front ones are also very small and pointy and there are gaps on both sides of them. There is no gap between my front two teeth and it makes me feel like a little kid with two rabbit teeth. I’m 16 and becoming very self conscious about my smile. What options do I have to make me have a normal smile?
All my teeth are straight as well. Thank you for your consideration.

I Have A 2-3mm Gap Between My Two Front Teeth, Would I Have A Lisp If I Got Them Bonded?

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Doctor Patel. I’d like to start by telling you firstly that I have a gap about 2-3mm wide between my two front central incisor teeth, and I would like to have the cosmetic bonding treatment on them to close up the gap, but I wanted to know if this would cause me to have any problems speaking, for example, is there a chance that I could start to develop a lisp? Also, I would also like to know if my two front teeth would look rather wide after the treatment has taken place?
Thank you, I really hope you can get back to me on this one.

I’ve Been Told My Teeth Can’t Support Braces, So What Are My Other Options?

Friday, September 6th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I have already undergone the treatment for braces some four years back, but from the time the treatment was over, I noticed my teeth were starting to get protruded and thereby opening gaps. Now it seems to look how it appeared to look prior to the treatment. Yet my teeth have developed lots more cavities and do not have a lot of strength to bite anything very hard. Enough fillings have been put in from my childhood and some even more recently. I am 25 now. When I have approached several dentists they advise me not to go for braces again as my teeth are not in a condition. Could you kindly suggest what other options may be available? I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Hi, I Want Perfect Teeth, But I’ve Been Told I Need Surgery To Change The Shape Of My Jaw. Is This My Only Option?

Thursday, August 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hi,
I’ve previously had orthodontic braces fitted three times on my top teeth and twice on bottom ones. This was due to wisdom teeth moving my teeth and also leaving a gap between my two front teeth. The last treatment I had managed to close the gap in between my front teeth and align all the teeth well. However, I was still left with a slight overbite of the front four teeth but was told this was simply the shape of my jaw and mouth and unless I had surgery that was all they could do.

I am now in my early thirties and went to a dentist where I’ve just moved and went for a local check-up. She suggested that I’d need X-rays to check roots of teeth to see whether they were strong enough for yet more braces. I’m really not sure what to do. Is it a bad idea to have braces fitted again? Could what she says about teeth shaping be true or should I just accept that I’ll never have completely perfect teeth due to my jaw shape? I’m really not sure what to do. Is it a bad idea to have braces fitted again? Could what she says about teeth shaping be true or should I just accept that I’ll never have completely perfect teeth due to my jaw shape?  I look forward to your answer.
