Is Fluoride Varnish a Good Treatment Option for Children?

Friday, May 13th, 2016
Q.

My son, who is 7, has white patches on his emerging adult teeth which are quite extensive and some of these teeth also seem a bit translucent. He would always swallow his toothpaste rather than spit it out. I am concerned about fluorosis. His dentist is keeping an eye on his teeth and one thing he mentioned was about using fluoride varnish. I’m concerned about treatment with fluoride varnish and can’t find out any info about its use for this particular kind of problem – do you know if this is a good treatment option?

Have You Ever Heard Of The Metal Wire Going Under The Gum After Dental Bridge Treatment? My Dentist Says It’s Normal.

Friday, July 18th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew, I hope you can help. After completion of a dental bridge treatment, the wire which was connected to the false tooth went inside the gum after a few days. I started feeling pain occasionally. The dentist who performed the bridge said that this is normal but prescribed antibiotics and painkillers if pain persists and also advised to use fluoride toothpaste. Does the metal wire ever go inside the gum after few days? Have you heard of this before? Please advise me on my future course of action. Thank you.
