My mouth has developed burning stabbing sensation Plz advice

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi Justin – Over the last 5 weeks, I have had antibiotics and used mouthwash constantly to clear up an abscess. On Monday after hygenist treatment, my mouth has developed a burning, stabbing sensation in the gums and also nerve pains in the face. Although now on medication for Oral Thrush, the dentist does not think this is the case. Her feeling is either allergic reaction to mouthwash, or Burning Mouth Syndrome. What do you think?

Can there be any emergency treatment for terrible toothache in NHS?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Justin Glaister! I am writing to you, as my husband is suffering from terrible toothache for the last 2 weeks. He took so many painkillers by now, and still no help. His tooth is aching almost every day, or every second day. We both know, he should go to a dentist urgently, but sadly we can’t afford those high prices. He is on the NHS waiting list, but it is ever so long. Is it true, if he goes to the hospital for emergency treatment, he gets it for free? We come from Hungary, and waiting to go home at the summer, and sort it out there. But this pain is getting unberable for both of us. Is any advise you could give him? Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you.

What is the success rate for implants on people with gum disease?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Dear DOCTOR I suffer with periodontal disease which is controlled and my teeth are not loose. Recently I have had a sharp pain on chewing under a molar that is crowned. Following an x-ray I have been told that there is chronic infection low down irritating the nerve and that the tooth will have to come out. I am an NHS patient but am prepared to pay privately to have an implant which the NHS dentist would do. I am told there is no rush to decide providing the pain is only occasional . Does this mean it will not make me ill if I take my time . Also what is the success rate for implants on people with gum disease and would the infection need to be treated before commencing or is chronic infection something that does not go away.Thankyou

Just found Dr denti ” Tooth-Fil on line… but would like to know if its available in Chemists shops. thanks for any info. Plase remember that I’m asking this question because for the moment I CAN’T AFFORD to go and see a dentist, so please dont suggest that I do.

Recommend some dentists who implants dentures in Birmingham.

Saturday, October 10th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have been wearing a denture for 30 years, I have 3 front top middle teeth. My denture is a metal plate with 2 wires that wrap around my teeth. I have had 3-4 in total also tried acylic one at one stage of which made me keep heeving, couldn’t take to it at all. My denture now is very lose and irritating my palet and gums I expect and my dentist today suggests I have another acrylic one without wires as he doesn’t recomend the metal ones anymore. He has quoted me £198 (nhs). I was wandering if I would perhaps be able to have a Valplast one with some back teeth on as I haven’t had any back top teeth since I was 19 – 20yrs old. If I could I would rather put the £198 towards this as if I have another acylic one I may not be able to wear it again. I live in Birmingham. could you give me some idea of a price and maybe recomend someone In Birmingham. I am getting married in September this year and would love the confidence to smile. Many thanks.
