Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q.
Hi i am 27 year old woman who has lost most teeth through tooth decay. I am thinking about going back to a dentist for dentures but i am very worried about this due to my age. I am so down and depressed every day about this. Will they look okay and do they feel uncomfortable and like they are going to fall out of your mouth. Please help i’m so down.

I need advise on my teeth problem and treatment costs?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q.
I am fed up with my teeth they are badly in need of alot of work.I am 33 years old and my teeth look like they belong to a 65 year old. I am missing my upper right central, my upper right lateral is very very loose now also the same applies to the upper left lateral, they can easily move with a little push.I think i need to remove these as well with upper left central and either get implants or a bridge. what would you suggest i do? Really need some good advice and also what kind of money would you be talking for each of the above mentioned procedures.

Would the tooth grinding adversely affect the implants?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q.
I am considering implants in my lower jaw as I have lost all the double back teeth. They were havily filled and all abcessed and I had to have them removed. I grind my teeth at night and in the day and wonder if this would have been a factor in my losing them to abcesses. I have had a mouthguard in the past but don’t use one now. Would the tooth grinding adversely affect the implants? Thank you

Could you help as I am unsure of whether to have veneers or bridges?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Q.
I have a partial denture for my upper left and right lateral incisors, but am interested in looking at implants, as this would be a more permanent solution.I admit I have not looked after my teeh very well in the past but I am determined to this time but dont fancy wearing dentures long term – my NHS dentist has mentioned veneers or bridges but not sure about that either. Many thanks.

Is its true that partial acrylic denture not available in nhs?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Q.
At the moment I have a 4 tooth bridge which is at the front on my upper teeth. It is a hinge which I have been told is broken so at the moment this is only supported on the one side which is on a post. I have been told by 2 dentists that as this is a large bridge I will now have to have a denture which although not happy have accepted this is the only solution. My problem that before I had my bridge had a plate and as have a strong gag reflex didn’t not get on with this at all also when I was eating it shifted as was most uncomfortable. I have been shown a denture that is metal and doesn’t seem to cover the roof of my mouth would this be a better option than the normal partial acrylic denture for me? I have been told that this is not available on the NHS? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I had cap tooth fitted which is loose now plz help me with this

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Caplan, Could you help…. I had a bad tooth removed by my nhs dentist, the option for me was to have a cap tooth fitted and glued to the tooth next to it,,After fitting th tooth felt too big and I was told this was a normal feeling even though it also loooked too big, after only two weeks the tooth became loose and fell out, so I went to another dentist, the tooth was altered and refitted again by bonding mixture,, I was told again that the tooth would stay in for years.. only a few days later the tooth is again loose and I cannot eat antyhing on that side of my mouth in fear of it falling out again. Could you advise what I should do next Kind regards

What is the price range for implant?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009
Q.
Dr. Caplan, I saw an endodontist today for a problem with a crown that I had placed in 2004. There was a root canal done on this tooth(which is the 3rd tooth from the front tooth) and then the crown was placed. But I have had a lot of trouble with the crown—has come off several times and now for the second time in 3 mo, I have decay built up under it. I am on antibiotic now and the specialist I saw today recommends that I have this tooth extracted and have an implant for this tooth. It was a baby tooth(the permanent tooth came in behind it and I had it pulled years ago). I have just a couple of questions: What is the price range of an implant? Should I have my dentist—whom I trust do the procedure or is it recommended to go to an oral surgeon? Thank you!

I m not happy with my dental implants can anything else be done?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009
Q.
I am 21 years old and have a dental implant either side of my upper front teeth. I have had them for three years and am not happy with them. Originally they met my gums far higher than my other teeth which just looked wrong, so they then gave me new ones which had gum colour at the top of the tooth to look more in line. However it still looks pretty awful to me and I was wondering if anything else could be done about it. I think this was all because of lack of bone. Thank you.
