My teeth have now become an off white colour

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, Im 18 years old and lack self confidence due to the effects on my teeth from poor diet and lack of oral hygeine in the past. My teeth have now become an off white colour and have like whiter stains near the tops. i also have a few decaying spots on the top of two of my teeth towards the front. I am so embarrassed about them, i dont like to smile, i have even found myself mumbling when i am talking so that i am not revealing the full extent of my teeth. This is beggining to depress me now especially due to my age, I dont like socialising as much with my friends do due to the embarrasment, this also puts me off visiting a dentist! I am worried of what he/she may think of me. What treatment do you think is required and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

my problem is overcrowed bottom teeth

Friday, January 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, my problem is overcrowed bottom teeth, slight overbite from top teeth(sucking thumb child), uneven bite (left side teeth just about touch compared to right), narrow(ish) bite, 3 venners and crown (4 front top teeth due to broken teeth). The thing is I’m 30 in a sales role, any chance Invisalign will work for me? Its as much for comestic reasons (fear it will look worse as i age) as it is for hygiene as my teeth never feel really clean even after flossing.

I’m a 26 year old guy a couple of months ago my dentist told me I have gum disease

Friday, December 5th, 2008
Q.
Hi Dr I’m a 26 year old guy a couple of months ago my dentist told me I have gum disease which really shocked me, main reasons been I look after my teeth so much I don’t smoke and as far as I’ve found out its not in my family history. Only 3 months after the dentist informed me of this I had to get a tooth at the back of the right side of my mouth taken out which my dentist told me was due to my gum disease I’m now really afraid now that I’ll be left with no teeth by my 40s which would be awful for me as I really take pride of my teeth and it’s always the first thing I notice in person. I’ve only just had my orthodontic braces removed 2 years ago and now this. What can I do to stop this gum disease or prevent it and what is the worst case scenario???? Many

hi hows it going ive really got a phobia about going to a dentist

Thursday, November 13th, 2008
Q.
Hi hows it going ive really got a phobia about going to a dentist which has led to me neglecting my teeth so my front teeth have some tartar stains on the 2 front teeth and on one of my fangs and a few cavitys on my front and back teeth and one of my front tooth has crackec completely in half and is hanging on by the front surface of the enamel even tho there isnt much of that left.I got an appointment to see my new nhs dentist in a few weeks times and ive been reading up about what procedures they would use for this kind of treatment and it says the composite filling will match my natural teeth color and that is what has kind of confused me as i have abit of tartar stains and my 2 front teeth have discolored quite a bit to a light brown (due to i drink a lot of teas) and i was wondering if the composite filling would match the tea stained teeth or the colour of my teeth before they became discolored and stained or is there another procedure they do to restore a brighter whiter smile and by the way im going for free nhs dental treatment. thanks alot cant wait for your reply

A dentist recently recommended the best teeth brushing technique

Monday, November 10th, 2008
Q.
A dentist recently recommended the best technique for brushing teeth is by starting on your gum and flicking the brush to the tip of the tooth. This apparently decreases the likelhood of rubbing plaque etc into the gumline as well as decreasing the likelihood of receding gums. Despite the above advice, I notice many websites still suggest brushing your teeth in a circular motion. I write a youth newsletter and was going to put in it some ‘handy hints for maintaining healthy teeth’. What would you suggest I write and can I put your name next to it?
