I have 4 teeth that are heavily filled

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a question. I have 4 teeth that are heavily filled also on 2 of them I dont have that much tooth left. My nhs dentist has told me that they cannot fit crowns on the 2 teeth because there is not that much tooth left. Now, I dont really want to go for Implants now, because they are basically surviving on a large filling. Can i request crowns or should my dentist advise me what I should do. I basically feel like she is leaving it too late and leaving it till i dont have much tooth left and then saying i cannot put crowns on there. I am only 28 and only eat on one side of my mouth, so this is the reason why most of my teeth are filled on one side.. My question is can I request crowns or should she advise me. ..Pls can you get back to me. Thanks

i have recently had a fall and my front tooth has broken off

Friday, December 12th, 2008
Q.
I have recently had a fall and smashed my face againt a wall, part of my front tooth has broken off which has now left the remainder of my tooth with a sharp point and looks awful. If i go to the detist will they be able to treat me right away, and what is the procedure to repair a chipped tooth. Is there any pain involved as i have a great fear of going to the dentists and avoid needles at all costs. And any idea of what the price would be.

I have a broken back tooth with one whole section of tooth (which looks like a fang) having broken off. What types of crown would be suitable for this scenario and at what cost.

I have a very large filling in one of my upper rear teeth

Monday, December 8th, 2008
Q.
Hi, my question relates to crowns. I have a very large filling in one of my upper rear teeth (second from the back) my dentist thought the cavity was really a bit large to be filling but i didn’t want to lose the tooth so it was filled. I’ve been very careful with it and its lasted about 8 months but part of the tooth has now broken off, i assume this will only get worse and so my question is can the filling be ground down allong with the remaining tooth to support a crown, or does the filling have to be removed and the crown bonded just to the tooth as i don’t think there will be enough material to bond to if the filling is removed. thanks.

i need a veneer on one of my front teeth

Monday, December 8th, 2008
Q.
I have been quoted £324 for a veneer on one of my front teeth. As i am pregnant and soon to go on maternity leave i cannot afford this. I have been told that a porcelain jacket crown is just as good but not so costly. Is this correct? And what prices are these normally?

Hi I have a huge concern with my teeth

Monday, December 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a huge concern with my teeth. I have recently been confirmed as having enamel hypoplasia. Can you tell me anything about the etioliogy and pathology of this condition??? The destruction to my teeth is universal and quite serious. I am only 27 years old and this is a major problem for my self-esteem. I have seen a dentist specialising in oral diseases and aeasthetic surgical procedures and he sees my only option as having crowns put on all my 28 teeth (Yes! the damage is chronic!) I am just seeking a second (objective!) opinion based on this diagnosis and advice for treatment. Oh, and would the NHS provide this treatment? (Im assuming not). And another compounding issue is that I am a (struggling) student, financially independent from my parents. Speaking hypothetically, how much would this operation cost in the UK (with 3 root canal treatments also)?? Are the new ‘Procera-zirconium’ crowns the best on the market, and which crowns have the greatest resilience and longevity?? Thankyou.

im due to have bridge work on my top set of teeth

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008
Q.
Im due to have bridge work on my top set of teeth. It will involve two crowns on my natural teeth, the problem that i have is will this be the best option for me? i would like something that will even my smile, as i have had this type of treatment before and it ended in re-bridging again due to teeth extractions, because of a re-occuring abcess.
