I Want To Study As An Oral Surgeon. If I Studied For This In India, Would I Be Able To Use This Qualification Abroad?

Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I could do with your help. I have finished my BDS and I want to do a MDS in oral surgery. But ideally I would want to go abroad, but finance is an issue. Is there any way by which I can do MDS in India and then go abroad and practice with the same qualification? (esp. in USA or Canada). I know about DDS but is it worth going abroad and studying dentistry all over again?
I want to be sure of what I want to do before I commit to something. Also I have always dreamt of studying abroad but I don’t know what to do now. Please help me with this issue. Your advice would be greatly received. Thank you.

Can I Become A Cosmetic Dentist?

Thursday, April 11th, 2013
Q.

Hi there, i’m a 17 year old student doing A levels..and believe it or not, i have always wanted to be dentist. Trouble is, though my GCSE’s qualify and i have alot of dental related work experience and hopefully* predicted A level grades, i am really struggling with getting the predicted A level grades. This means i may not be able to do dentistry at university. Well, i have 3 Plan B’s (which are starting to look like plan A’s) 1-get a degree in dental hygiene or therapy instead of dentistry 2-do an apprenticeship as a dental nurse 3-sit and sulk in a cave..But my true heart leads towards cosmetics. Is there any way i can become a cosmetic dentist if i opt for the hygiene and therapy degree rather than the dentistry degree?
