My dentist tells me that I can’t have a bridge on the NHS. Is this true?

Q.

My dentist has just told me l need a new bridge as my old one is leaking, and any bacteria getting in could rot my teeth underneath. I asked if l could have it done on the nhs at the band three price of £204 he said no? I asked why….he said the nhs remedy…we are talking the realms of dentures.!Is this correct? All information l have read says that a bridge that is needed is available at £204 on the nhs. I do not want to challange him or complain as i’m sure all dentists are the same and l dont want to be left without a dentist. If this is correct l think all the literature out there saying you can get a bridge on the nhs at the band three price is a total myth, and is giving people false hope. I have been told in the past that all dentists undertaking all dental work under the nhs are adequately recompensed for anything they do. Can you clarify the situation for me please. It seems as usual the people with money will have nice teeth the rest of us dentures!! Thank you.
