What treatment would you advise for protruding teeth with short roots?

Friday, December 17th, 2010
Q.

Hello Dr , I am an 18 year old male with teeth that protrude by 4mm. I have very short roots so have been advised against braces, but I am very concerned about the appearance of my teeth because I am going to be studying drama at university in two years time. Can veneers, crowns, or anything else be used to improve the appearance of these teeth? any help would be appreciated- thanks alot

I’m considering Invisible braces but I have a gastric band and this affects what I eat.

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010
Q.

Hello,

I am considering an invisible brace but i am unsure whether it will work. I have a gastric band which means i eat very little at a time but i eat up to 8 times a day. it doesnt take me long 10 mins max each time but this would mean i would have to remove my brace up to 8 times a day to eat. Will this be ok providing i put it straight back in and i ate as quickly as possible.. Or would it be no good for me? Could you be discreet about my question please as it is a sensitive issue for me.

Thanks for your help.

What can I do to correct my protruding, twisted teeth?

Thursday, December 9th, 2010
Q.

I am a 47 year old with protruding front teeth that are also twisted which makes my whole lower face jut out. I would love to straighten my teeth push them back and have a nice smile before my 50th. Right now I hate taking photos. I am British Afro Caribbean and have been told that a lot of black skins have this facial feature but this only due to my teeth. What can be done and what will be the cost…Help.

Thursday, December 9th, 2010
Q.

I have a pretty bad cross bite on my bottom right 3 and i want it fixed, but i have my “prom” in a few months and i would like my tooth fixed by then and to be out of braces, like for photos, do you have any suggestions for a quick way to repair my problem, also my other teeth are very slightly disaligned I’m ok with them, but fixing them as well would be a bonus. thanks

Is Simpli5 more cost effective than clear alighners?

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010
Q.

Dear Dr Verma,

Please can you kindly advise if the treatment with Simpli 5 is more cost effective than with Clear Aligners?
I have my first front teeth a bit crowded and was told by a dentist that this is really minimal and would take no time to fix this.
I am trying to find a dentist or orthodontist around the area I live (East Sussex, Brighton) who offers this service and offers the best price.
I was advised by one Practice that for the first course of Aligners I would pay £350 and would wear them for a month, and if further course is needed, the aligners would cost £150 etc. So this is much better regarding costs from the braces.
Please can you let me know where can I find the dentist who does simpli 5?

Many thanks
Regards

What dental treatments could close the large gap in my front two teeth and help me achieve the perfect smile?

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010
Q.

I am so depressed as I have awful teeth and have been told by my dentist that I can never have the perfect smile I want. I have a large gap in my teeth (I can fit 3 1p coins easily between my two front teeth), and have been told that even if I have veneers I will still have a small gap. But I always seem to watch these American makeover shows where people have much worst teeth than me, and they always seem to work there magic and achieve wonderful results. Can anyone give some advice please.

I would like to have my crowded and twisted teeth to be straightened but don’t want any teeth extraction. Possible?

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010
Q.

Hi,
I am almost 35 years of age and have two front teeth crowded and twisted, also bottom jaw-4 teeth crowded and twisted. I would love to have a perfect smile, but not sure I can afford it, and how long would that take? I believe tooth extraction in my case will be necessary, and that really scares me. Also, I am an adult ,working in customer service, I cant imagine myself with mouth full of metal. Not sure where to go for a consultation,I live in Kent(BR3),

If I had veneers placed after my Invisalign treatment would they be able to provide me with a retainer also?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

I am nearing the end of my invisalign treatment (nearly 2 years) and I am unhappy with the results.

I have a bonded retainer at the bottom but it is uncomfortable and the other teeth have moved back causing one to be wobbley, its been like that for the last 8 months.

When I finish the top set my ortho wants another bonded retainer. I think I will want veneers so want to avoid the bonded retainer.

If I get veneers done elsewhere will they still be able to provide me with a retainerk, If so what retainer and how much will it cost?

Thanks

My front tooth is shorter than the other next to it, is there anything I can do about this?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

i have one front tooth that is very slightly (1 or 2 mm across the whole edge) shorter than the other front tooth. it hasn’t always been this way (they were perfect when i was younger, i’m now 32).

i’m wondering: 1. why has this happened; and 2. is there anything i can do about it without resorting to veneers, which i don’t really want to have?

many thanks for your time
