Is there something I can do to stop the decay?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
Q.
Hello, at my last visit, my dentist told me that I have a decay where my bridge was put 25 years ago. he said that it is too late to do anything now as the bone is gone (!) , the gum is retracted and the roots are out, I am very concern with that diagnostic and surely there is something to do to stop the decay. I don’t feel any pain apart from when the dentist applies cold air/ water. I can’t afford implants at this moment in time , but can it get worse if nothing is done now ? Thanks for your help. The teeth under the bridge have rotted, can I have some advice?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Moore, I am writing for some advice on behalf of my mother. She had a porcelain bridge fitted about 5 years ago to her upper jaw. It was fixed with temporary cement in case of problems in the future as her teeth were not great. She never went back to the dentist to have it permanently fixed as she began to suffer from chronic neck pain which she attributes to the treatment. The neck pain eventually resolved itself after two and a half years. About a week ago the bridge came loose and she returned to the dentist who advised that the teeth under the bridge had rotted to such an extent that all the teeth in the upper jaw needed to be removed urgently. The relationship with the dentist broke down to such an extent that she has no faith in him for further treatment and also wants a second opinion. How usual would it be to have all the teeth in the upper jaw removed in these circumstances and what are her treatment options. She is mortified and self-conscious at the state of her teeth and is worried sick about the health implications in terms of the neck pain recurring and infections from the rotting teeth themselves. Can you advise please? Many thanks in advance.,

Can I have my bridge corrected?

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010
Q.
I received a bridge (front tooth knocked out) back in the 90’s….it was a bad job from jump but at that time didn’t realize how bad. The bridge has always been a lighter color from the rest of my teeth and the teeth that were shaved for fitting are visible at the gumline!!! HORRIBLE… can this be corrected – redone? If so, what would be the cost out of pocket? HELP…would love to SMILE again.,
