I can receive a Maryland bridge through the NHS at a reduced cost, would you recommend this treatment?
Q.
I have an incisor missing between my front tooth and canine. The surounding teeth are in a healthy condition and my dentist says i can have a cantilever bridge fixed to the canine or a maryland bridge. The cantileaver has to be done as a private patient but i can have the maryland bridge carried out on the NHS at reduced cost.
There is quite a diference in price and as i am retired i have to concider this.Which would you recomend,Is the maryland bridge good enough.

Quite possibly but impossible to confirm this without actually seeing you in person. The advantage of the Maryland is that it does not involve preparation or very little preparation of the teeth on either side. Your bite will have a large influence on suitability and expected lifespan of the Maryland. Your dentist should be able to advise you or you could seek a second opinion before committing to the treatment

I have had a Maryland bridge for 10 years with no problems whatsoever. Very painless to fit and does little damage to surrounding teeth. I have a very good dentist, make sure yours knows what he/she is doing.
