How much do clear and lingual braces cost?

Q.
Dear Sir/madam I am currently in the process of getting braces. I dont want fixed metal braces as I would feel conscious about them. Please could you tell me about the clear fixed braces, and the lingual braces. I would like to know an average price for these treatments and if ay of the cost is paid by the NHS. Thank you very much.

These alternative braces are not available on the NHS. The costs vary but a general range would be approx. £2000 to £4500 depending on how complex the treatment required is.

Hi, when i was 15 my dentist referred me to the orthodontist for braces, he looked at my teeth and said if he fits me with braces my teeth will just move back. I stupidly didn’t argue. Im now 27 and my teeth are really in a bad way, the two front teeth have moved so much that cracks are appearing, one tooth is in the middle of my mouth. I have marks on my face due to the strain of movement. What i want to know is would the nhs provide any assistance to pay for treatment

the cost of braces does vary from dentist to dentist, the system used and the difficulty of your case. Non of the cost is paid by the NHS and private costs range from £3-6000.

Firstly these braces are not carried out on the NHS. The cost of braces can vary from £1500 to £4000 depending on the type of brace and complexity. A consultation would be required to give a definitive costing.I hope this helps.

Clear braces range in cost from £2500-8000 nationwide, Lingual braces are more expensive often starting at £5000. Have you looke dat Invisalign? These are all private treatments so not available on the NHS.

I am presuming you are an adult. In that case, the total treatment will be done on a Private basis. The clear fixed braces are an excellent choice and once you start wearing them, you will very quickly forget they are there. In my practice, patients are able to spread the treatment costs over a year, so it makes the treatment more affordable, the total fee varies from two thousand pounds for a 3 month treatment to correct small irregularities in one arch, to five and a half thousand pounds for upper and lower braces worn over a year to correct more significant problems.

Lingual braces are another alternative if you really want no one to know you are wearing braces. These systems are prefabricated and the system we use at my practice, is the Incognito which is an excellent sytem that is manufactured in Germany. The costs of this treatment are substantially more and the fees are approximately nine to ten thousand pounds for extensive treatment. The reason for this is that the laboratory fees for the Incognito system are substantial and secondly, the chairside time required per adjustment visit is much greater and the treatment more fiddly.

Having recently visited the dentist as a NHS patient I was not offered scale and polish treatment inclusive of Band 1 treatments. Instead I was referred to see the resident hygienist for this treatment at a cost of £50 per session. Could you tell me if this is standard practice nowadays as it certainly was not the case before in my experience. If this is now the case, is this due to the change in NHS dentistry contracts? How can a change in contract cause a change in professional advice given?
