Plans Submitted to Create New Dental Surgery in Whitfield

A husband and wife dental team has submitted plans to Dundee City Council to open a new dental surgery at The Crescent in Whitfield. The facility, which opened in 2014, already houses a GP surgery as well as retail premises.

Chris and Sarah Ewart, who both studied dentistry at Dundee University, are hoping to secure one of the vacant shop units for a brand new surgery, which could create up to 2,000 new NHS and private dental places in the area.

Chris and Sarah have worked in a variety of settings during their careers and they are very excited about the prospect of having their own practice if the plans are approved. Whitfield is an area on the up, with additional investment leading to new houses popping up in the town and the opening of The Crescent development. When the couple heard about the opportunity, it seemed like the perfect location for a new dental surgery.

If the plans are given the green light, the new surgery will provide both NHS and private dental treatment in a location, which is easily accessible and enables people to make use of different health services in the same development or combine shopping with seeing a dentist.

If the plans are approved, the couple is hoping to move quickly and ideally the surgery would be open to patients before the summer.
