Proposals to create a new health and wellness village in Bridgend have been submitted to planning officers.

The plans for Sunnyside Wellness Village included proposals to create a doctor’s surgery, a dental centre, a pharmacy and community health clinics, in addition to supported housing. The plans have been put forward by Linc Cymru in partnership with the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board and Bridgend County Borough Council.

Phil White, Labour cabinet member for social services, explained that the proposals have been discussed at a community consultation, but residents who haven’t been involved in the process will have a chance to find out more about the development at a public meeting, which is due to be held at Evergreen Hall on August 9th at 6.15pm. At the gathering, members of the public will be able to ask questions and talk to project managers from Linc Cymru.

Conservative councillor, Carolyn Webster, said that several people had contacted her about the proposals, and stated that the public meeting would provide an opportunity to get answers and learn more about the development and how it could benefit the community if the plans are given the green light.
