Plans to build a new dental surgery have been revealed by Laurels Dental Practice in Clydach, Wales.

The practice has unveiled plans to build a large, modern surgery next to Clydach Primary Care Centre, which will provide a wider range of NHS and private dental services for patients.

The plans have gained the support of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, as the new surgery will provide more NHS dental places in an area where there is currently a shortage.

The practice managers are also planning to convert the current premises back into a residential property.

A spokesman for the Laurels Dental Practice said that the management had been hoping to expand the practice for some time and said that it made perfect sense to move next to the Primary Care Centre, as this would enable local residents to access a wide range of health services without having to travel long distances. He also added that members of staff are delighted to have received backing from the health board.

The plans will be submitted to Swansea Council planners in the near future.
