Planners at Lancaster City Council have recommended an application to convert a former supermarket into a new dental surgery.

The move brings the opening of a new dental practice one step closer, with a final decision expected in the coming weeks.

The application related to the former Booths superstore in Torrisholme. If approved, the new surgery would house seven treatment rooms and a training and education suite. Parking will also be provided. The practice will employ nine part-time members of staff and five full-time employees.

Booths closed earlier this year and local people have generally been in favour of a new store opening in Torrisholme Square.

Planning officers are expected to make a final decision on the use of the premises at a meeting, which is set for 27th June.
