"Not advisable"to travel abroad for dental work

Travelling to a different country for cheaper general or cosmetic dentistry is not a good idea, it has been claimed. According to www.treatmentabroad.com, 100,000 UK residents took a dental holiday in 2007 and it anticipated this figure will rise to 126,000 this year. However, Leigh Greenwood, head of media at the British Dental Health Foundation, said the figures do not mean it is advisable. He warned that foreign dentists are not always as well trained as in the UK as other countries may not have the professional and extensive training requirements. There are also a number of questions patients must ask themselves when they consider travelling abroad for treatment, Mr Greenwood added, claiming that should dental work go wrong there are various issues to be addressed. "For example are they willing to fly back? What are their legal rights as a foreign patient?" he said." Are they prepared to go through the courts? Do they have the money requiredto correct the treatment in this country?""ADNFCR-1374-ID-18507614-ADNFCR" More Dentistry abroad stories
