New surgery eases strain on local NHS services

A new NHS dental surgery has opened in Swanley.

The new surgery, which is located just off The Mall, will provide NHS dental care for hundreds of patients. Services in the area have previously been under pressure, with demand for places outweighing the supply and many people going without the services they need.

The new NHS practice has been hailed as a “real boost” for the area by Stephen Ingram, the director or primary care at NHS West Kent. The new surgery came about as a result of talks between local government and health service representatives and local people; many residents said they found it difficult to find an NHS dentist that was taking on new patients and some were travelling significant distances to see an NHS dentist.

The new practice in Swanley will be run by Dr Amit Rai and Dr Fizan Tahir. Patients wishing to register with the surgery are advised to contact their local Primary Care Trust.
