New NHS Dental Practice Will Reduce Waiting Times in Stornoway

Sample News Big

The opening of a new NHS dental practice in Stornoway is set to reduce waiting times for treatment on the Isle of Lewis.

A new clinic will open next year, creating more than 4,500 new NHS places and increasing access to dental services on the island. Currently, there are 1,200 people on the waiting list, so the new practice will eradicate the waiting list and provide an opportunity for those looking to enjoy private services. The clinic will focus predominantly on NHS care, but some private services will also be available.

An announcement related to the new practice came shortly after the closure of the Independent Dental Practice in July. When the dental centre closed, many patients were left wondering when and where they would be able to see a dentist and a waiting list quickly formed, but news of the new practice will be received warmly. At the time, the state acted to provide immediate NHS cover, but now, a long term solution has been approved.

As yet, no details have been released about an opening date or an exact location, but the practice is set to house three surgeries with a capacity of 4,500.
