A new NHS dental surgery has opened in a former church in Bristol.

The new practice, which has opened in Neath Road, has capacity for 10,000 NHS dental patients; the practice is run by Oasis Dental Care and was commissioned by NHS Bristol. The new St George practice is the last of five new practices to open in the Bristol area; in total, the five new practices offer 50,000 dental places. Jill Shepherd, director of commissioning at NHS Bristol, said that the new practices have been commissioned to ensure that local people have access to NHS services.

Oasis Dental Care owns four practices in Bristol and works closely with NHS Bristol; Justin Ash, chief executive of Oasis Dental Care, said that the company will work alongside NHS Bristol to ensure patients get the best possible standards of dental care.

The new practice has been open since January but was only officially opened last week; so far, more than 2,500 patients have registered and many more are expected to sign up in the coming weeks. The surgery is fitted with state of the art equipment and technology and the modern, spacious treatment rooms have been designed to provide a relaxing atmosphere for patients.

Patients who are interested in signing up with the new St George practice are advised to contact the surgery directly or telephone the NHS dental helpline.
