Motherwell Dentist Retires After Three Decades

Sample News Big

A dentist from Bellshill, Motherwell, is retiring after three decades in the business. Brian Bianchi has been tending to the dental woes of the town for more than 30 years and he is now looking forward to downing his drill in favour of his golf clubs and enjoying a more relaxed pace of life.

Mr Bianchi started working at the town’s surgery in 1982 and became the owner in 1992. In 2009, he was approached by Integrated Dental Holdings and he sold the practice. IDH is now known as mydental. At the time, Mr Bianchi said it was a good time to sell, as retirement was looming and he would have to sell the practice at some point, so it made sense to listen to offers.

Mr Bianchi now plans to “chill out” and enjoy the outdoor life. He is eager to get back into playing golf and wants to spend more time on his bike. He also has two young grandchildren and is looking forward to spending more time with the family. Despite plans to stay busy in his retirement, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of doing some casual locum work in the future.

In his 33 years of practice, Mr Bianchi said that dentistry has changed a lot and modern dentistry is really exciting, thanks to incredible advances in technology. There was a time when people used to queue down the street to attend anaesthetic clinics, but now treatment under anaesthetic is available from specialist dental units and technology has undoubtedly helped to decrease pain.

Patients and colleagues have bid a fond farewell to Brian and he has received a number of cards and gifts. He wishes to thank everyone for their well wishes and has promised to pop in from time to time to keep in touch with everyone.
