Matlock Dental Practice Becomes One Of The First In The UK To Have An Anaesthetist On Site
A dental practice in Matlock, Derbyshire, has become one of the first clinics in the UK to have an anaesthetist on site.
Peak Implant Clinic has enlisted the services and expertise of Dr Ken Ruiz to provide sedation for nervous patients and patients who are undergoing lengthy or complex dental procedures. Dr Ruiz has moved to the practice, which is located on Bank Road, from a clinic in Sheffield.
Zoe Rosenbaum, practice manager, said that the addition of a consultant anaesthetist to the team really takes the practice up a notch in terms of caring for nervous patients and patients with dental phobia. Many patients who have dental treatment feel very anxious and sedation is a popular technique used to help patients feel calmer and more comfortable during a procedure. With Ken’s expertise, patients can feel assured that they are in the best possible hands.
As well as being a useful tool for treating nervous patients, sedation is also hugely beneficial for patients and dentists when a long or complex procedure is required. Dentists are conscious that patients can become uncomfortable in the chair after a while and sedation enables them to work for longer periods of time without any worry about the patient suffering from anxiety or discomfort.
Dr Ruiz also works at Rotherham Hospital; he is a very experienced consultant who previously held the post of president of the National Association of Dental Anaesthetists.
