Johnny Rotten's new teeth cost $22k
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the rocker said he had spent $22,000 (£11,248) on cosmetic dentistry since moving to Los Angeles.
However, he added that it was necessity rather than vanity that made him seek treatment for his teeth after so many years.
"I was feeling incredibly ill," Lydon explained. "I was permanently poisoning myself with gum infections. And my gums were receding and I was starting to look seriously weird."
"I'm 52 and I need to survive the next 52 years," he added.
The newspaper noted that the singer still has one gap at the front left of his teeth, which he explained he lost while eating a cherry.
To have this corrected he would have to have his jaw totally realigned, he claimed.
Between May 18th and June 17th the British Dental Health Foundation are running National Smile Month in association with Oral Health America.
