A Californian school district is offering young students free dental check-ups.

Pupils from kindergarten to sixth-grade in the Elk Grove Unified School District are being given the chance to improve their oral health for free.

The screenings are going to take place from 8am to noon on 12 March 2010 at Florin Elementary School on 7300 Kara Drive, Sacramento and Helen Carr Castello Elementary School on 9850 Fire Poppy Drive, Elk Grove, on 16 April 2010.

California state law makes dental screening for pupils compulsory by 31 May in the first year of school.
