Dental Team No Make Up Selfie Effort

Members of staff at March Dental Practice have helped to raise over a hundred pounds for Cancer Research UK by joining in with the ‘no make-up selfie’ trend, which swept the country via social media channels.

Thousands of women and girls took to Facebook and Twitter, posting photographs of their faces without make-up to raise money for charity and the team at the dental practice went one step further by coming into work with no make-up on.

Sheree Markham had the idea for the no make-up day after seeing photographs on the Internet and reading about the campaign in the papers. She said she wasn’t the most popular person around after encouraging her colleagues to come in bare-faced for the day, but everyone took on the challenge and agreed to leave their make-up bags at home for the day.

In total, the team raised more than £140 on the day and they are still collecting donations.

It is believed that the ‘no make-up selfie’ craze helped to raise more than £8 million for Cancer Research UK in just six days. It all started when one woman posted a photograph of herself with no make-up online and encouraged her friends to do the same to raise awareness of cancer. The trend quickly became viral and many celebrities also posted their images.
