Dental Professional Registration Fees to Remain the Same

Sample News Big

Fuel, food, and the cost of other basic necessities are continuing to rise. However, one thing will stay the same for 2009, and that is the cost of the General Dental Council (GDC) registration fees for dentists. This month, the GDC decided to keep registration fees the same. The GDC has monies in reserve to help it function throughout 2009. Therefore, annual registration for dentists will stay at £438, and for other dental care professionals the annual registration fee will remain at £96. Professionals on the GDC specialist lists will still be paying £52.
The GDC decided to alter the registration renewal date for four groups of dental care professionals (i.e., dental hygienists, dental therapists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists) to July of every year instead of December. This is being done to have their registration dates coincide with dental nurses and technicians. Therefore, dental hygienists, dental therapists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists are obligated to pay a 7 month registration fee of £56 in December, 2008. This will keep their fees current until the end of July, 2009. At that time, they are then obligated to pay a full year’s registration fee that is good until the end of July, 2010; thus, synchronising the renewal cycle of all dental care professionals
