Bradford Dentist to Travel to Morocco with Dental Mavericks

A dentist is preparing to swap Bradford for the hills of Morocco as part of a charity venture organised by Dental Mavericks.

Carl Taylor, from Taylored Dental Care, will visit the village of Asni in the Atlas Mountains at the end of May. The team of volunteers will make the 33-mile journey from Marrakech on May 22nd.

During the three day visit, Carl and the team will be providing local people with routine dental services. For most, this will be the first time they have seen a dentist. Dental provision is very poor and issues we can treat very simply in the UK, like decay and gum disease, can be very serious and even life-threatening. Carl is hoping to treat around 20 children per day.

Dental Mavericks was set up in 2010 with a goal of providing dental care to Morocco’s children. Since it was established, more than 30,000 children in Morocco have benefited.

Carl said that he was eager to help out after hearing about the amazing work the charity does in Morocco. Many of the children living in remote villages suffer from severe pain due to treatable dental problems.

During their time in Asni, Carl and his fellow volunteers will be working with representatives from the Eve Branson Foundation, a charity established by Sir Richard Branson’s mother, Eve.
