Ian received his qualifications from Bristol University in 1984 and at first focused on surgery, working at hospitals across the South-East including a satisfying year at the well known Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. Dr Brignall returned to General Practice in 1988, firstly in Tonbridge before joining and becoming a partner at London House, Sevenoaks where he spent sixteetn happy years, latterly with Oasis Dental Care as lead clinician up to June 2006.  Between then and the opening of the new practice Ian worked at Fourways practice in Borough Green.

Ian still undertakes surgery on cases referred to him by other dentists, however over recent years his main focus has been cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.

Ian is skilled at both placing and restoring dental implants and is building up a cutting edge cosmetic dental service, Sevenoaks Smile Studio. He has also taken training in Intravenous Sedation, to allow even the most nervous patient to receive treatment. Ian is passionate about dentistry and believes it has the power to improve people’s lives for the better.

One former boss described Ian as one of the best dentists outside London and he has built up an enviable reputation for providing quality, reliable care. Ian is dedicated to postgraduate education, he completed his DPDS Diploma in 2005 with special interest in gum disease, bridgework and dentures. To formalise his implant knowledge, he studied on the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons, ‘Diploma in Implant Dentistry’ course and regularly attends courses and lectures in the UK and abroad. Ian is one of the first dentists in the UK to undertake an MSC in ‘Aesthetic Dentistry,’ which he started in 2010.

Ian, describes himself as a perfectionist and is dedicated to constantly improving his practice, travelling the country to get ideas from other practices in order to make sure Sevenoaks Smile Studio and Atkinson Brignall can provide top quality dentistry in Sevenoaks for years to come.

Ian is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthetia in Dentistry, the British Dental Association, Association of Implantology and the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
