Q. I thought of going to have my silver fillings to be replaced with composite materials in one of my molar tooths. But some of the current silver fillings stick to my gums, how does the dentist going to remove it? Will it cause my gums to bleed during the drilling? I am concern that the harmful silver particles will get into my gums.
A. hi many thanks for your email, the silver fillings that are placed close to your gums will still be removed and can be replaced with the white filling material. the silver filling material will not harm your gums.

Q. hello! I really want a silver tooth, and was curious on how its done, cost and if i dont like it can i have it removed? Thanks for you time!
A. hi many thanks for your email a silver tooth is usually placed over your existing tooth but so not to look too bulky the tooth inquestion is prepared down a little to accomodate room, therefore if you did not like it you would then probably have to replace it with a porcelain veneer. the cost of a silver tooth varies from £600 – £1000 dependant on where you go for the treatment.

Q. i am 15 years old i just want to know if i can get one silver tooth were no tooth is there
A.
Yes you can in the form of a bridge ( using a skilled laboratory technician able to make a silver crown within the bridge ) or have an implant placed with a silver crown on top ( if the laborary technician is able to make it ) – speak to your dental practitioner for advice as you are still quite young on the best solution for your overall health and age.

Q. Hello, i’m 16 and my front tooth is chipped so i would like to get either a crown, a replacement or a silver tooth in its place. can you please give information about this, for example price, duration…
A. If the tooth is only slightly chipped you might be better off with a small white resin filling rather than a crown. With a crown you will need to trim the tooth back significantly as as you are still young this will jepodise the long-term survival of the tooth.

Q. Hello im 13 from preston. were could get a silver tooth from if u have the answer plz may you get at me Fanks
A. I’m not sure what you mean when you say a silver tooth? Some practices offer silver/metal crowns. Amalgam fillings are also used which are silver in colour. I need to stress though, that these restorations are only used when absoloutely necessary. If you think you need dental treatment, then your local or regular dentist can advise you further.

Q. Hi, I am having some dental issues especially with my molar teeth. Last July I had one of my molar tooth removed and this summer I broke another molar tooth. And when the piece came off the inside of the tooth looked black? Can you tell me what that is and is the inside of my other teeth that color?
A. It is common to see the inside of a tooth look black if there has been an amalgam or “silver” filling in the tooth as a result of corrosion of the metallic material which is why a lot of people are now looking at the more cosmetic, white filling materials

Q. a while ago i had a deep silver filling replaced with a white filling, in the molar tooth, sice then i get pain of a sesitive nature when i try to chew food, i have been back to my dentist who adjusted the bite and took an exray, there was no evidence of a crack or hole in the tooth, the tooth was not dead. so my dentist is going to deep clean the gum next week, as he said there is sensitivity due to pockets, and when the gum has been deep cleaned the paiun should go. is this correct?
A. Difficult to say. The decay may have been close too the nerve and the tooth may just need time to settle. If after the gum treatment is completed you still have pain your dentist may need to root treat the tooth and place a crown

Q. Hey I was wondering about how much does the silver teeth cost and do you do payments also I dont have insurance.
A. hi many thanks for your email , i assume you mean like jaws or goldie but in silver, this cost from £400 – 800 per tooth dependant on where you go, if you want this kind of treatment doing there are implications as usually the teeth have to be prepared so that if you ever wanted the silver material taken off you may then need to have the tooth replaced with porcelain. i hope this is helpful.

Q. hi can you tell me please whether or not i can have a white covering on my silver fillings so i dont have to have them removed. thankyou
A. I’m afraid that this is not possible. The only way would be to have the amalgam fillings removed and replaced with composite restorations. If you have some heavily restored teeth, then it would be beneficial to have porceain crowns placed over the top. The amalgam filling can remain as the core of the tooth.

Q. Hi DR. i want to have a sliver tooth, and i live in malaysia so how can i get it and how dose it reach me to any place am in. i will be greatfull if you respond to my question thank you so much i will be waiting for you answer.
A.
To have a ’silver tooth’ made you will need to go and see a dentist because the tooth that you intend to have silver will need to be reduced in order to fit a silver casing around it. This is called a silver crown.
Once the tooth has been reduced, impression are taken of this and you leave the surgery with a temporary crown while your silver crown is being made in the laboratory. This ususally takes around 2 weeks to be made. You then return to the surgery to have the temporary crown removed and the silver crown cemented.
Having said this you may find you have some difficulties in finding a dentist that would carry out this treatment for you. Having a healthy tooth reduced and fitting it with a silver crown is very invasive and may be a decision you regret in the future.
If you decide in the future that you would like a natural looking tooth there again you will have to have a porcelain crown made that will blend into the colour of your other teeth. It will not be possible to have your natural tooth back. Having a silver corwn an irreversable treatment. You should also keep in mind that crowns have to be replaced every 10-15 years.
Kind regards

Q. hello, i am enquiring about silver crowns at the moment i have 2 white gold teeth on the front i have had them for about 7 years but have just realised in my reliogion its not permissible for men to have white gold in any shape or form is it possible for me to get these taken out and get 2 silver crowns on only reason asking my freind told me you cant have siver crowns appreciate your reply. Thank you
A. hi many thanks for your enquiry, most dental metals do contain some amounts of gold. the best thing would be to discuss your requirements with your dentist, it maybe possible to have platinium teeth made as apposed to silver.

Q. Do dentist still use silver caps? I need a root canal, however are there alternatives to treatment? This procedure cost too much and the crown is expensive as well. I was thinking maybe they can clean the tooth and then just put a silver crown to protect it.
A. If there is an infection under the tooth the only way it can be saved is by root canal treatment first.

Q. Afternooon Dr Butt, How are you? I had one of my molars removed last summer and I would love to have a silver tooth put in. But I couldn’t find any info, so I assume it would have to be white gold. Could you give me an indication as to how much that would cost?
A. hi
if you had a whole tooth removed you need to have something placed in the space for a crown to sit on ie an implant or alternatively hang the missing tooth off 1 or 2 adjacent teeth which is called a bridge
you could have white gold but costs will vary according to what you need ,
best asking your dentist to go through all the options

Q. I would like to have a silver cap that sits permanently over a tooth, is this possible or would I have to remove a tooth and replace it with a silver one?
A. Why would you want a silver tooth?
If this is what you would really like then a veneer can be made to go over your natural tooth. Your tooth may have to be shaved down slightly for this to blend in

Q. hi basically im frm london but i would like to get a properly fitted silver tooth cap over one of the tooths right next to the front two. (crown over the tooth) and for real gold crowns they charge about £200. do u know how i could get this cheap and the procedure going about it
A.
£200 is actually very cheap for what you want. I would not advise a full crown as this is very damaging to your tooth. A silver veneer may be possible and would give you the silver look!
