What Kind of Treatment is Best for Closing Gaps in the Teeth?

Friday, January 23rd, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. My teeth have all got gaps in between them, on both the top and bottom sets of teeth. I would like to get my teeth put together as fast as it could be. So I was wondering what treatment would I need and how much do you think it would cost? Adding to this, I was considering what type of pain would I be going through and how long would the surgery take, would it be weeks or days? Thank you, please get back to me.

Hello Mark. I Have Gaps Between Three Teeth And Would Like To Know The Cheapest Option To Fix Them?

Thursday, May 15th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I have gaps in my upper teeth that have been there for years. I’m 25 year old female and I absolutely hate it.
It’s embarrassing. I have gaps between 3 teeth of my front of my mouth and I’m just wondering what my best and cheapest option is please? I don’t have a lot of money but am willing to pay for them to be fixed. Also, what are your views on teeth bands? I’m reading mixed comments on the internet about them and I hope you can get in touch. Thank you very much.

My Teeth Have Straightened Up But Now They’re Causing Me Discomfort. Am I Eligible For Treatment On The NHS?

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013
Q.

When I was about 13 several of my bottom teeth began to cross over and I was refused braces by the orthodontist, my tooth then cut my bottom lip and was causing me discomfort so I was referred to a dental hospital where I was refused braces again. I left my teeth and my bottom one’s because they no longer bother me as they can’t be seen when I smile. I used to have a big gap between my top front teeth but last year they all straightened up and my gap closed up, but I worried they would overlap but my dentist said they wouldn’t. I’m 17 now and recently my second to front tooth has gone crooked and slipped behind my front tooth and is aching and causing me discomfort and making me self-concious, I feel it will push my front tooth forward, also my teeth don’t close together properly, am I still eligible for a brace or even a retainer on the NHS?

Can Braces Be Placed Over An Already Existing Maryland Bridge?

Thursday, August 8th, 2013
Q.

Hi there, when i was 12 i had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now i am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, i am just wondering if the braces can be placed over the maryland bridge i currently have and also how long it would take to open up roughly 4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? This work is taking forever, I just want it finished!! I feel like my whole life is on hold…Anyway, thank you very much for your help in advance.

There Is A Gap In Between My Two Front Teeth Which Is Getting Bigger, Please Help!

Thursday, August 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I’ll just get straight to it! I have a gap in between my top front two teeth, i can fit my tongue in it and it seems to be getting bigger! i think!
when i shut my teeth together is seems to be as i can only describe it as tight feeling.

i have been getting very low about it, and have started to cover my month when i smile, sometimes I try not smiling at all!!!

So i would like to do something about it.

would like to no the steps on going to getting this sorted? Would I have to go down the route of orthodontics? Or is this something that fixed by means of general dentistry? I’m not sure who I should speak to about this so any help you can provide me with will be very appreciated. Thanks for your time.
