My Old Bridge Has To Come Out Leaving A Gap. Can You Give Me An Idea Of How Much Implants Cost?

Friday, May 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. On my last visit to the dentist they said I would have to have my old bridge removed as there is a gap now between the tooth and the gum. It doesn’t bother me at all but they said it will have to come out. That will mean I’ll have a gap on either side of my mouth where the two at the back teeth used to be. They said a plate would be an option but I would prefer to have permanent teeth implanted. Could you give me an idea how much they cost? And if there are any other options available to me? Thank you.

Would Going Abroad Be The Right Choice For Me When Considering Dental Implants?

Monday, January 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi I am 68 and my last remaining bridge has just come off due to the retaining teeth breaking up. I am missing teeth all around my mouth and now finding it difficult to bite and chew so I am currently looking to get a full set of implanted teeth. Access smile, Hungary and Polish smile, Poland are two dentists I am looking at. Do you have any comments about these companies and are there any recommendations you can make regarding other companies from abroad.
Regards.

I’d Like To Know If Snap On Veneers Would Be A Suitable Solution For Me?

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I hope you can help me. I have got a lot of crowns and bridges which are mixed throughout my mouth but also some of my own teeth in between. Top and bottom, but mostly the top teeth. Am I still able to have snap on veneers? Also my bridge on top of mouth has 4 front teeth shorter than other teeth – Can those 4 teeth be made longer? I also have a crown which has fallen out and not been replaced making bottom of my teeth at the side show through. Thank you for your advice.

How Long Does A Bridge Last On Average And Will They Fit Another When It’s Finished?

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie. I heard someone say recently that a bridge should last between 10 to 15 years, right? After then what happens to it? Does it break or fall out? Is there a chance it can cause other health issues? I’m currently awaiting treatment for this and I’d like to know if it’s safe, also will they be able to fit me with a new one when it’s finished? I’m wondering how long the whole procedure takes as well. You would really be helping me by answering any of these questions and offering your expert advice. Thank you.

Can You Fix My Tooth Without Removing The Entire Bridge?

Friday, February 1st, 2013
Q.

I have a bridge on top of 9 teeth, the bridge is one piece ,i broke one tooth ,is there any possibility to rebuild the tooth without removing entire bridge.I had the work done two years ago in my hometown in Poland whilst in Holland yesterday i had a tooth become detached, I was able to get it glued back in yesterday evening prior to leaving for London. My dentist in Poland asked that I return home and advised that the whole bridge would have to be replaced.I am alarmed by this and wpould request your opinion on the validity of this statement.I am working in the UK and would not wish to return to Poland for what ia advised would be for a period of at least 10days. I would appreciate a prompt reply. Thanks,

I swallowed my bridge and have washed it with bleach and vinegar, can I wear it again?

Monday, May 23rd, 2011
Q.

A few days ago I woke in the middle of the night choking on my dental bridge which had came off. I could not retrieve it, so waited for it to pass through. I was very nervous about this as I had read on internet that it could become lodged at different points in the digestive system. Finally after 5 days it passed through. I washed it, soaked it in soapy water over night, then brushed it with a light solution of bleach, then with vinegar, then soaked it in a solution of bleach for about 30 minutes, then rebrushed it with vinegar. My question is: does this santize it enough to be free from ecoli? Is it now safe to reuse? I cannot afford another bridge and it is not pleasant walking around with no front teeth on right side, also the pain from the bare roots apparently is heart wrenching. Please advise.

Can I get my bridge repaired or should I get a new one?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr. Caplan,

Approx. 6years ago I had a new bridge fitted. Maybe one year ago a sliver from the bottom of one of the front teeth broke off, my Dentist, at that time, managed to refix the this broken part. A new Dentist took over the practice, the same part came off again and has been replaced on countless occasions during the past six months. This piece doesn’t seem to be ‘stuck’ with the correct adhesive. Now it is not a sliver it is a wedge that is being replaced. I cannot afford an entire new bridge, even though I have a DenPlan contract. To be honest if I were to be able to afford a new bridge I would never want this particular Dentist to fit it.
I would appreciate your advice on this matter.

Many thanks,

Should I replace my bridge with implants?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
Q.

Hi,
I have a failing bridge involving UR1,2 & 3. UR3 needs an extraction UrR1 a root canal. I have been advised by 2 dentists that I should have an implant on UR3 with a cantilever bridge to replace my missing 2, with a seperate crown on UR1( the Dr said a large implant here will easily hold 2 teeth.
Another clinic I visited recommended 2 implants on ur3 and 2. They wont do a cantilever bridge option they believe the physics/mechanics of it i.e forces of eating etc dont gaurantee it to last. I do have quite a heavy bite with some wear on my bottom teeth and this concerns me that it may cause too much pressure on cantilever option. Also would a larger than normal/necessary implant be needed to hold 2 teeth here? is it better to use 2 smaller ones to hold teeth separately. also I have a bridge on my left side involving same 3 teeth, would the two implants option make the other fitted bridge side look odd or not really an issue?. I really dont know what would be best, both clinics say their options would look better cosmetically. Help!!!
