Implants with periodontal disease?
Hi,
I suffer from periodontal disease on the top gums and yesterday I had all four front teeth removed and now have a partial denture (NHS - £198). I had asked my dentist about the possibility of dental implants. He said it wasn't possible as the bone structure was too weak. This was after a recent panoramic x-ray was studied.
He said it may be possible to have a bone transplant and implants in the future, but he said it would be best to see what the bone structure was like after the teeth were removed, maybe 3 months done the line.
I've read a bit about bone transplant, but I would like to know if removing the teeth was necessary, or if the only way to treat bone loss, was to keep the teeth in the first place? I'm just a bit worried that I've jumped too quickly.
Also, what can products like 'Nature's Smile' do? Is there a sure way to cure periodontal disease?
Thanks,
Michael.
