Young Dental Nurse Found Dead After Walking Home In The Snow

Sample News Big

A young dental nurse was found dead after walking home after a night out without a coat. Bernadette Lucy Lee was found dead in the early hours of Sunday morning by a woman out walking her dog. The 25 year old was just yards from her sister, Jodie’s hose, where she was planning to stay the night.

Police believe that Bernadette had walked home after a night out and was not wearing a coat at the time. There are fears that she may have slipped and bumped her head or simply fallen asleep and succumbed to the freezing temperatures, which dropped to -2 over the weekend. When she was found, she was wearing just a dress and had taken her shoes off.

Bernadette had been planning to stay at a friend’s house, but changed her mind and headed to her sister’s house instead. Jodie explained that the group of girls had visited a club in Deal, Kent but over the course of the night, they had become separated. Jodie said that she though Bernadette would stay at her friend’s house because that is where all her clothes and bags were. Jodie went home but had lost her door key and stayed at a friend’s house as a result; she said that Bernadette must have come home later and been unable to get in. She said nobody will ever really know what happened and keeps asking herself why she didn’t call or knock on the neighbour’s door.

Bernadette’s father, Roger, said that he was absolutely devastated and paid tribute to his “beautiful little girl.”

Police have confirmed that initial investigations point to a tragic accident and there is no evidence of suspicious causes. A post-mortem will be completed this week to find out the cause of death, which is likely to be hypothermia.
